Key Takeaways From ViVE 2025
By Tye Cook, Senior Executive Director, Access Transformation
ViVE 2025 in Nashville had a different energy this year—still engaging, but with a more pragmatic tone. The enthusiasm for AI is still there, but healthcare leaders are moving beyond the hype and facing a hard truth: Without rethinking the operating model, we’re at risk of simply automating inefficiencies, reinforcing poor outcomes, and even creating new problems. The focus now isn’t just on what AI can do, but on how it can be applied in ways that actually improve patient access, capacity management, and operational alignment.
A key theme was ambient technology’s role in reducing clinical documentation burdens. Microsoft emphasized voice as a platform, enabling solutions for diagnostics and best practices. But the real opportunity isn’t just eliminating “keyboard debt”—it’s using that reclaimed time to expand patient access and reduce wait times. If done right, it can translate into expanded appointment availability, shorter wait times, and a meaningful improvement in patient access. That’s the kind of alignment between technology and operations that healthcare needs to prioritize.
Despite AI’s rapid evolution and emerging applications, including video, a bigger question remains: Are we fixing healthcare’s fundamental misalignments or reinforcing them? ViVE25 highlighted that the industry is at a crossroads. The right technology can optimize resources and improve access; but without structural change, even the most advanced tools won’t move the needle. The real work begins when healthcare leaders commit to aligning their technology strategy and AI investments with operational realities—exactly where Tegria is focused.
